ABOUT

  • Herr [ her; English hair ]
    noun
    1. the conventional German title of respect and term of address for a man.
  • Nox / (nɒks) /
    noun
    1. the Roman goddess of the night.

Herr Nox eludes all characterization, fitting in all boxes while also fitting in none at all, but one thing is for certain, the genuine artistry behind his dark blend of alternative sounds is forthright and undeniable.

Herr Nox is a multidisciplinary artist based out of Quebec, Canada with a penchant for the heavy and the dark. What he creates is not entirely metal, but an amalgam of alternative, progressive, goth, industrial and new-wave music going through his own prism of decadence.

“I just write music and let it be what it wants to be.” – Herr Nox

Since embarking on his solo career in 2017, Herr Nox has released multiple singles and albums, and in February 2021 he released his second full length metal album Where Shadows Fade.  While the sound of this new album ventured into more organic territories than its 2018 predecessor, Stargazer, the lyrics push further into dystopian themes and long for an empathetic revolution.

Where Shadows Fade could serve as the soundtrack to Hollywood in the 1980s – the epicenter of temptation and decadence; Sodom and Gomorrah wrapped the inviting glow of neon lights; a place one would not dare walk alone after midnight unless tempted by devil himself – and tempt he does.

The album also features international guests Jørgen Munkeby (Shining, Ihsahn, Emperor) and Lindsay Schoolcraft (ex-Cradle of Filth, Antiqva).

Whether it is the Bowie-like influences, the Robert Smith-inspired guitars or the deep metal growls sprinkled here and there, Herr Nox maintains a genuine and cohesive sound that obliterates barriers and should please fans of multiple genres and musical eras.
